Table Tennis Dayton
Table Tennis Dayton launched in the summer of 2004 on the Yahoo! GeoCities platform, ostensibly as an adjunct site to the official website for the Dayton Table Tennis Club. As I was dissatisfied with the presentation and underlying code for the official site, I attempted to bring to the club a more professional and visible table tennis site. Though not embraced, and indeed excoriated, the site persevered and quickly grew out of the initial focus, to encompass more than just the Dayton region. A move to a more sophisticated hosting service and a focused domain name choice allowed a marketing campaign to achieve positive search results.
Indeed as of this writing, Table Tennis Dayton draws upwards of 5000 page loads a day from all points on the globe. The "Games" page achieves a notable percentage of eyeballs, as does the "Multimedia" page. The "Biba Gallery" has brought in a large number of traffic as well. The forum remains rather moribund but plans are in place to increase the forum popularity. Further, more articles, in particular coaching and equipment are likely inclusions.
2006 will bring about some modifications to the site framework, if all goes as planned. A site redesign and rename is on the agenda, as is a large offering of full table tennis matches. The downloadable matches will likely be tied to the forum - those who post more will be allowed to download more - a simple calculus. An alternative would be a pay-as-you-download mechanism, with PayPal as the payment processor, and a possible $1.00 (USD) per match the price.
I would love to hear from you as to the above plans, in particular possible site names, articles, likes, dislikes, match offerings and the associated "costs", and any other topic you see fit. Table Tennis Talk is the preferred vehicle, or an email to the address below is fine.
Table Tennis Dayton thanks you for your surfing time and interest.
